I’m happy to introduce a free tool to enable you to do preliminary research on Canadian grants that were given by non-profits to other non-profits. The data powering this dashboard comes from the 2017 Canadian T3010 Charity Tax Returns. In fact, every piece of information you will see from this dashboard appears as entered by each respective non-profit. As such, you will need to verify the information in the course of your research.
The results the dashboard shows are divided into two sections: Grants, and Profile of Donor Org.
Once you’ve chosen your filtering options in the sidebar and pressed submit, the first results you will see are in the Grants section. You’ll notice at the top, there is a pull down menu that allows you to select from any one of a number of matching donor organizations that have given grants in the 2017 tax year. Beneath that, you’ll find a table with descriptive information about grants to organizations matching your org type. At the bottom is a graph that shows you the total amount of grant money this organization gave to its top 10 causes/org types.
In the Profile section, you’ll see some basic contact information, a mission statement, and total assets/liabilities. Again, all of this relates to the organization you chose in the top pull-down menu.
I hope this helps and that you have a good time using it 🙂
