Today I had a really fun time hosting a digital roundtable on Prospect Research with a bunch of really bright professionals. During the spoken panel discussion, there was also a lively chat conversation as well! I wanted to provide a listing of what I thought were helpful resources and discussion points from that chat for your benefit. Without further ado, here you go:

[12:19] Preeti Gill
Indicators: are they community-minded already?

and why they gived
[12:22] Ian Rigg
Jessica Robson Hi Jessica, we (Western University) purchased the environics wealthscapes – and we used them to build a few statistical models for major giving, we also used them to create a hybrid technique for wealth ranking – however all of these require you have good, current address data for your constituents

@Ian Rigg (External), I’ve done modeling involving organizational prospects before. They follow a different set of modeling characteristics, but so long as the data is there, I can tell you they can indeed be scored!

@Ian Rigg (External) , I’m doing a project right now involving EA WealthScapes right now for a hospital foundation! However, for orgs, the onus is on the database characteristics, which is fine, because you can get really far with it

Super easy to learn too
[12:58] Brooke, Cannon
Yes Tracey, if my client is going to make a 25K ask spending 700-1K for a profile is appropriate. But if they want profiles for cold calling, I would recommend a brief bio.
[12:58] Tracey Church
Also, when you look closely, most donors make their largest gifts once they are your volunteers. Sp first step may be volunteer involvement.
